Leyte Provincial Capitol - briefly became the seat of Philippine Commonwealth Government during the World War II era

The Commonwealth of the Philippines, also known simply as The Commonwealth and as the Philippine Commonwealth, was the political designation of the Philippines from 1935 to 1946 when the country was a commonwealth with the United States. Before 1935, the Philippines was an insular area with non-commonwealth status, and before that, it had been a U.S. territory.

The creation of the Commonwealth was envisioned under the Philippine Independence Act, popularly known as the Tydings-McDuffie Act as a ten-year transitional government in preparation for full Philippine independence and sovereignty, which was promised through the Philippine Autonomy Act or Jones Law.^[7][8] The Commonwealth was officially inaugurated in November 15, 1935. During this period, the Commonwealth exercised semi-independence in its territories.

It marked the end of the colonial eras as well as the transition of the nomenclature of the Philippines from the plural “Las Islas Filipinas” and “Philippine Islands” of the Spanish and American colonial periods, to the singular, “Philippines”.

The Campblog 2A Participants

Hello world!

The CICT once again called us to participate in another camp. I’m very much excited because it’s another opportunity to travel and visit a new place – Talisay City, Negros.

The trainers in the camp taught us to make a Learning Object. New to me. It’s nice and a big help. I can make an interactive enrichment lessons.

I tried one with some of my students. Most of them liked it. Now, I’m still making another LO. Good luck to me.

I learned from the training. Thank you very much.

Since my blog aims to feature businesses in Leyte I will talk about us – the Waray.

It is believe by most that Waray are brave people. Nakakatakot daw! For me, this is absolutely untrue! We are sweet, caring, accommodating and loving people. Kaya walang dapat ikatakot sa mga Waray!

I’m starting to enjoy making my blog. I post comments on the blogs that I read before but I don’t have an idea how to make my own. I learned blogging from this camp.

I learned the process from writing, choosing and planning the content and making my blog through WordPress.

I’m planning to continue posting my blog after this camp.

Tuba is clean because it really has natural contents. It is a natural juice from the coconut, so it has nutrients and vitamins that are also found in the coconut tree itself. And the barok(powdered mangrove bark) is also a natural product.

Because of the known health benefits of tuba, it became more popular among those living in rural areas because it is where big coconut plantations are found. Tuba is cheaper than other artificial medicines used to cure the ailments or other health problems.

Whenever you get fever you can then wipe tuba vinegar all over your body! This is because some believes that this kind of vinegar acts as heat trapper, thus, lowering your fever! Other people also use the vinegar from tuba as disinfectant for dog bites and wounds. They put the vinegar in cotton balls or a soft cloth, then they wipe it on the sides of the wound. Others pour the vinegar directly onto the wound or dog bite.

But anything in excess is harmful! Drink for your health!

Montevista Villa

Hello world!!! Here I am again.

Campblog gave me an opportunity to travel, meet new friends, and learn new things. When learned that I am one of the participants of Campblog1b, I felt so nervous and at the same time excited. I felt nervous because I have to travel alone from Leyte to Manila. At first, I thought that I will travel alone from Manila to Pampanga. Thanks to the people from CICT for their assistance during our travel. I’m also excited because I can visit a new place and I will learn new things. This is my first time in Pampanga and blogging is new to me.

The venue is great and luxurious!

The speakers are excellent and experts. I learned a lot from them.

The Team Managers and organizers are very helpful and accommodating. They did everything to provide all our needs.

Thank you very much CICT and all people behind Campblog1b! This is an unforgettable experience!

Tuba

Palo, Leyte, Philippines. Nine thousand three hundred “Warays” make a Guinness world record for a wine-tasting session of Tuba. An Waray Party-list and the Leyte local government organized the activity. It was held at the MacArthur Shrine where General Douglas McArthur landed upon his return to the Philippines during World War II.
